The Little Red Schoolhouse was built in 1845 with classes starting in 1847. It was formerly onCrum Elbow Road at Cardinal Road in East Park.
The Town of Hyde Park Historical Society rescued this one-room school house from demolition in 1972 and moved it to the grounds of the North Park Elementary School, Route 9G, Hyde Park, NY.
Come to see how the children of years ago spent their days in school!
Tours of this school house are available by calling Carl Grieco
at (845) 229-9029.

Little Red Schoolhouse - 2017 Programs
The Little Red Schoolhouse on the grounds of North Park Elementary School is open for special tours by calling the Director, Carl Grieco, at 845-229-9029. Due to the renovation project being worked on this year, no events were scheduled this summer.
However, there will be two Open House events on Sundays: September 24th and October 22nd at 2:00 p.m. for our members and visitors to see what has been accomplished with their generous donations! Please invite your family and friends to attend, and let us know if you will be able to join us.
You are invited to our 1845 one-room schoolhouse Open House and to learn more about how students attended classes in the 1800's.
There is no fee, however, donations are always appreciated.
Please bring a folding chair to enjoy refreshments outdoors after the program.
TO: HPHS Members and Friends October 26, 2016
As you will see below, our Little Red Schoolhouse needs repair. Therefore, we are starting a donation campaign, and all donations of $50 or more, names will be included on a plaque in the schoolhouse. Any amount though is appreciated. We will be sending out a donation form. Please share it with anyone you think might be interested in helping out. As you can see, this is only one side...we don't know yet what is on the other three sides. Our present estimate is $2650, unless there is more damage than we can currently see. This 1845 structure is the only one-room schoolhouse left in the Hyde Park area and maintained by our Historical Society. These photos were taken on October 23, 2016. As we are a non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible. If your company has a matching grant policy, please include the form with your donation.
